Dear colleagues,
It is our pleasure to invite you to the scientific conference “Non-animal approaches in biomedical education” organized by the University of Sarajevo – Faculty of Pharmacy and the Organisation for Animal Rights and the Environment EVA.
The conference will be held on November 14th - 15th 2024 in Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The conference aims to promote alternatives to animal testing and other adequate innovations in the education of pharmacists and other biomedical workers by raising awareness of New Approach Methodologies (NAM), which are particularly important in the discovery and development of new drugs, as well as exploring the needed shifts towards greater representation of these approaches in university teaching and learning.
We invite academic pharmaceutical and other biomedical staff and students as well as the other interested stakeholders to actively participate in the Conference, which we hope will serve as a platform to explore the needs and future of educational advancement of non-animal approaches in biomedicine.

Univerzitet u Sarajevu – Farmaceutski fakultet i Udruženje za prava životinja i okoliš EVA organizuju naučnu konferenciju “Non-animal approaches in biomedical education”, koja će se održati 14. i 15. novembra 2024. godine u Sarajevu.
Konferencija ima za cilj promovisati alternative testiranju na životinjama i druge adekvatne inovacije u obrazovanju farmaceuta i drugih biomedicinskih radnika podizanjem svijesti o ne-animalnim pristupima u biomedicini, koje su važne u otkrivanju i razvoju novih lijekova i terapijskih rješenja, kao i promicanju veće zastupljenosti ovih pristupa u univerzitetskom obrazovanju.
Dvodnevna konferencija će uključivati predavanja evropskih stručnjaka u polju metodologija novog pristupa (New Approach Methodologies, NAM) koje zamjenjuju neophodnost istraživanja na životinjama, govornika iz organizacija koje se bore za zabranu testiranja na životinjama, prezentacije radova akademskog osoblja i studenata kao i dvije panel diskusije o trenutnoj zastupljenosti NAM u Bosni i Hercegovini i perspektivama unaprjeđenja zastupljenosti u biomedicinskoj edukaciji, te stanju i poboljšanju etičkih principa (ne)upotrebe životinja u istraživanjima u Bosni i Hercegovini.
Pozivamo akademsko osoblje i studente Univerziteta u Sarajevu da svojim radovima daju doprinos u razmjeni znanja tokom konferencije, za koju se nadamo da će poslužiti kao platforma za istraživanje potreba i mogućnosti razvoja ne-animalnih metodologija u biomedicini u Bosni i Hercegovini. Konferencija je besplatna za učesnike.
